Short & sweet today!
If you want the back-story on the 2-pronged approach to growth I’ve been talking about over the last couple of weeks, you can get that here and here.
Today, I’m just here with a new guide, The Solopreneur’s Guide to Platforms & Marketplaces. It’s where bootstrapper’s hack the whole starting from square one problem.
As I started writing about the 2-pronged approach - writing and selling - it occurred to me that some examples of how different types of businesses use different types of platforms and marketplaces would be a helpful addition to the discussion.
So, included in this guide are the types of products/services that are frequently found on each platform as well as some reflections questions about where your business would fit.
As you work your way through the 4-step Define Your Wedge process, you’ll get clearer about what product/service you want to start out with and this guide will help you narrow down WHERE to start offering it.
The idea behind this is that many of us, particularly as we start out, don’t have an email list that’s the size we want it to be, or frankly, need it to be in order to generate revenue. We don’t have an audience to offer our work to.
So, what’s a solopreneur to do? How can we get some hands-on, real-world experience in our business?
We start by offering our work on a platform or marketplace where people are already searching and buying!
Yes!
Platforms and marketplaces are a low-risk way to start experimenting with your products or services. Low-risk means that they are low-cost and easy to experiment on. A win-win.
You may already have my starter (free) version of the 4-Step Define Your Wedge process, but you can get both expanded version of Define Your Wedge (with extra tools and help) and the 2nd prong, The Solopreneur’s Guide to Platforms & Marketplaces, starting today!
Stay tuned,
Julie
P.S. The Soloprenuer’s Guide will be updated on the regular - both with my findings and with feedback from my readers. When you purchase it, you’ll get any updates automatically sent to you.
